GENERATION One: MORRIS WILSON

In 1892, Morris Wilson arrived on Ellis Island with a star in his eye and a watch in his pocket, intent on making his American Dream a reality. A trained watchmaker at 18, he opened Wilson & Son Jewelers in 1905 in Washington Heights, laying the foundation for a five-generation family legacy that began across from a local bakery, a decision that would change his son’s life.

Generation Two: Meyer Wilson

Morris’s son Meyer carried the torch, marrying the baker’s daughter and moving the business to Bronxville, then Scarsdale in 1932. With his wife Adele, Meyer expanded Wilson & Son’s reputation, offering not just fine jewelry but watchmaking, repairs, and even optician services, all while raising the next generation. In 1955, Meyer Wilson was elected President of the NYSRJA (New York State Retail Jewelers Association).

Generation Three: Ira Wilson

In the 1960s, Ira joined his father and grandfather as a sales associate and behind the bench. With his wife Lynne by his side, Ira helped modernize operations while continuing the family tradition of craftsmanship and care. Together, they raised Generation Four and laid the groundwork for future growth in Scarsdale.

Generation Four: Michael & Matthew Wilson

Michael and Matthew joined the family business in the 1980s as certified gemologists from the Gemological Institute of America. Under their leadership, Wilson & Son evolved into a luxury jewelry destination. The business grew, just like their families, earning recognition from esteemed organizations including the Scarsdale Historical Society, Westchester Business Hall of Fame, New York State Significant Historical Business, and many others since 2000. In 2021, we moved across the street to our current location in the Harwood Building.
